Subject-Area Tests & ACT
Students in the Harrison County School District participate in various classroom assessments throughout the school year. Assessments tell you about students' progress on the path to future success, whether that is the next grade or the next course. They measure what students know and can do based on learning goals for the grade or course.
Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP)
MAAP measures students’ academic aptitude. High school students take end-of-course exams in Algebra I, English II, and Biology, according to their schedule.
Mississippi Academic Assessment Program -Alternate Assessments (MAAP-A)
Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities take the MAAP-A in grades 3-8 and high school.
English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT)
The ELPT is a secure, large-scale, English language proficiency assessment administered to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 who are officially identified as English learners (ELs). This assessment is administered annually to monitor English learners’ progress in acquiring academic English.
ACT State Testing
The ACT assessment is a curriculum- and standards-based educational planning tool that assesses students’ academic readiness for college. The ACT is administered to all students classified as eleventh-grade students during the academic year. Ungraded students whose birthdays link them to the cohort of students identified as eleventh-grade students will also be included.
ACT WorkKeys
ACT WorkKeys is a series of assessments that measures skills essential for success in the 21st century workplace. The ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (ACT WorkKeys NCRC) is a credential issued based on competencies on three assessments: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. Examinees must score at least a 3 or higher on each of the three assessments to earn an ACT WorkKeys NCRC, which is issued at four levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
MAAP and ELPT Student Reports have been sent home to students who participated in testing. These reports give the proficiency level of your student. Harrison Central High School's Mississippi Succeeds Report Card for the 2024 - 2025 school year will be posted on the Mississippi Department of Education website when scores are finalized. This usually occurs in October. Click here for more information and type in Harrison Central High School to view Harrison Central High School's Report Card.
